This Israeli-American actress has a total net worth of $54 million. Her real name is Natalie Hershlag, she was born in Jerusalem (Israel) on June 9th, 1981. Is the only daughter of the physician Avner Hershlag and the artist Shelley Hershlag, who also deals with the representation of his daughter. His parents call him Nat.

Although she was born in Jerusalem (Israel), Natalie has been living from a very young age in the United States, since the age of three, her family moved her residence to the city of New York.

Early years.

In her childhood, and in New York, she studied dance. At age of eleven, while she was eating at a New York pizzeria, she was discovered as a model.

First movies.

Her work as a model introduced her to the cinema when French director Luc Besson focused on her to give her a role in his action thriller “Leon” (1994) where the actress co-starred along with Jacques Reno and Gary Oldman.

She later starred in titles such as “Heat” (1995) by Michael Mann, “Beautiful Girls” (1996) by Ted Demme, “Everybody Say I Love You” (1996) by Woody Allen or “Mars Attack!” Film directed by Tim Burton.

Star Wars Saga.

In 1999 she was required by George Lucas to play one of her best known roles, Princess Amidala in “The Phantom Menace” (1999), a continuing title for “The Attack of the Clones” (2002).

For her portrayal of Wayne Wang’s drama “Anywhere, but Here” (1999), Natalie was nominated for the Golden Globes as best supporting actress.

Other works at theater and director.

In addition to her role as a film actress, Natalie has participated in plays (“The Seagull”) and has written journalistic articles, many of them focused on her Israeli origins. Her career as an interpreter has not been an impediment to interrupting her academic training, studying psychology at Harvard University.

In 2004 she won the Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actress for “Closer” (2004), directed by Mike Nichols for which she was also nominated for an Oscar.

Other films and Academy Award.

Other titles in her filmography are the futuristic dystopia “V for Vendetta” (2005), “Goya’s Ghosts” (2006), Milos Forman’s film in which he portrayed a muse of the great painter from, or the film “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium “(2007), a fantastic film co-starring Dustin Hoffman.

In “Brothers” (2009), film directed by Jim Sheridan, she interpreted Tobey Maguire’s wife, and Jake Gyllenhaal’s sister in-law.

She won the Academy Award for best lead actress and Golden Globe for her performance in “Black Swan” (2010), directed by Darren Aronofsky in which she played a dancer.

Personal life.

Portman is a non-religious Jew, vegan on her own initiative from the age of fourteen, and even being pregnant. She speaks Hebrew, English and, although she does not master them, she has taken classes in French, Japanese, German and Spanish.

In December 2010 People magazine announced that Natalie Portman was engaged to choreographer Benjamin Millepied, whom he met while working as a choreographer in the film Black Swan. The couple have two children born in 2011, and 2017 respectively.
