Jim was born on January 17th, 1962 in Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada in the middle of a Catholic family. His family has French-Canadian background; the original Family name is Carré. He is the youngest of four siblings, Patricia, Rita, and John. His father was Percy Carrie, an amateur Jazz musician, and an executive of an important company.

However, when Jim was only 14 years old, the Company where his father worked tore down, and Percy Carrie was unemployed and without labor perspectives. Percy died in 1994 due to Alzheimer. Kathleen, his mother, got sick as well in which she could not recover. She died in 1995. His funny gestures were already developed when he tried to impersonate the famous American actor Jerry Lewis.
Pursuing a comedy career.
Wishing since he was Young to have a career doing comedy, at the age of 10 he sent his resume to The Carol Burnett Show, a famous T.V sketch humoristic program broadcast by CBS. When the company his father was working with went bankrupt, they went plunged into poverty.
They had to left their luxurious house in Burlington, and they had to move to a very simple house periphery. The whole family moved from Toronto to Scarborough City. Later, they even had to sleep in tents installed at some relatives’ backyards where Jim could study and live.
At the age of 15, he decided to try his luck on the humor field by performing in several clubs. Few times later, he moved to USA, specifically to Los Angeles where he was discovered by the famous comedian Rodney Dangerfield.

In 1984, he made his debut in a T.V series called “The Duck Story” this was its shuttle to become in a film actor.
Since the middle of the 80s, Carey took part in supporting roles in titles such as “Peggy Sue Got Married” (1986), or “The Black List” (1986) a film starred by Clint Eastwood.
