Nicolas Cage is an American actor current net worth is $25 million. Born as Nicolas Kim Coppola on January 7th, 1964 in Long Beach Island. California (USA). Son of the literature professor August Floyd Coppola (1934-2009) and the dancer and choreographer Joy Vogelsang. He was raised in a Catholic family. His father had Italian origin, while his mother is of German and Polish descent.

His paternal grandparents, Carmine Coppola the composer and Italia Pennino an actress. Immigrants’ granddaughter from Bernalda, Basilicata. His father is the director Francis Ford Coppola’s nephew, as well as actress Talia Shire, and cousin of directors Roman Coppola and Sofia Coppola, film producer Gian-Carlo Coppola, and actors Robert Carmine and Jason Schwartzman.

Career.

Avoiding rumors of nepotism for being the nephew of Francis Ford Coppola, early in his career, he changed his name to Nicolas Cage, inspired by the Marvel Comics Superhero, Luke Cage. From his small role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High along with Sean Penn, Cage has appeared in a variety of films, both conventional and unconventional.

He auditioned for the role of Dallas Winston in the Francis Ford Coppola’s film The Outsiders, but the role was finally for Matt Dillon. He has appeared in several Coppola films including Rumble Fish, The Cotton Club and Peggy Sue Got Married.

Consolidation and Oscar.

The famous Cohen Brother’s film The Raising Arizona; Wild at heart by David Lynch; Martin Scorsese’s Bringing Out the Dead (1999) and Ridley Scott’s 2003 Matchstick Men, where he portrayed an agoraphobic con artist with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Cage has been nominated twice for the Oscar. He won once for his portrayal of a suicidal alcoholic in Leaving Las Vegas. His second nomination was by the film Adaptation, where he plays Charlie Kaufman and Donald Kaufman, his fictitious twin. Despite these successes, most of his low-budget films performed poorly at the movie theaters, compared to his action and adventure films.

Other works.

Cage is an avid comics fan. He auctioned a collection of 400 classic comics through Heritage auctions for more than $ 1.6 million in 2002. In 2007, he created with his son Weston a comic book called Voodoo Child, which was published by Virgin Comics.
