Glenn Close is a very versatile actress whose net worth is $20 million. She was born on March 19th, 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut (United States). She lived on a farm the first years of life, daughter of Bettine Moore and a doctor named William T. Close. She grew up in Connecticut and in the Belgian Congo (now Zaire), where her father was practicing. She studied in Switzerland, sang in a folk group of traditional messages called Up with People, and she was instructed in acting at the College of William and Mary.

Beginnings as actress.

Her acting career began in the theater, appearing in several telefilms since the mid-1970s, including one that addressed the life of John Merrick, the elephant man.

For her work on the television film “Something About Amelia” (1984) Glenn Close won an Emmy. The same year of the premiere, she doubled the voice without credit to Andie MacDowell in “Greystoke, the Legend of Tarzan” (1984).

Two years earlier, she made her feature film debut with “The World According to Garp” (1982), an adaptation of John Irving’s novel of the same name that starred Robin Williams in which the actress was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting actress.

Other titles of Glenn Close in these beginnings are The Big Chill (1983), The Natural, (1984), two films for which she re-elected for the Academy award in the same category.

Her breakthrough to stardom came when she played Alex Forrest in “Fatal Attraction” (1987), a film by Adrian Lyne with Michael Douglas as a partner. For her interpretation, she was nominated to the Oscar as a best actress in the main role, fact that was repeated for Dangerous Liaisons (1988). She never won the Oscars, although she did win several Tony Awards.

Reversal of Fortune (1990), “Hamlet” (1990), “The House of the Spirits” (1993) or her character Cruella De Vil in “101 Dalmatians” (1996) were other titles of interest shot by an actress who had her best time in the 80’s and early 90’s.

Personal life.

Between the years 1969 and 1971, Glenn married Cabot Wade, a guitarist and composer, with whom he had acted during his time in Long Live People. In the 70’s, Close had a brief relationship with actor Kevin Kline, who later starred in the film The Big Chill. From 1979 to 1983, she dating the Broadway actor Len Cariou.

Glenn Close was married to businessman James Marlas from 1984 to 1987. Soon after, she began a relationship with producer John Starke, whom she had previously met on the set of The World According to Garp. They both have a daughter called Annie Starke, who is currently an aspiring actress. The couple separated in 1991.
