Martin Scorsese is an American filmmaker whose estimated net worth is $70 million. He was born on November 17th, 1942 in Queens, New York (USA), but grew up in Little Italy. Martin Scorsese, a descendant of Sicilian immigrants had an extraordinary Italian background. His parents were Luciano Charles Scorsese and Catherine Cappa, both textile workers and parents of another boy named Frank, older than Martin.

Childhood and young age.

He was asthmatic from his childhood, which separated him from sports, the young Scorsese wanted at the beginning to become a priest, that he even entering the seminary of Cathedral College. In 1965 he married his girlfriend Laraine Brennan and a year later he graduated, working as an assistant professor for some time in the same university where he studied.

Consolidation as a director.

His first feature film was “Who’s that Knocking at my Door?” (1967), an autobiographical urban drama starring Zina Bethune and Harvey Keitel. The film was set by Thelma Schoonmaker, his usual collaborator and key piece in the artistic triumph of his future and best projects. After writing the script for the film “Obsessions” (1969), a German-Dutch co-production, working as an editor and assistant director on the documentary “Woodstock” (1970), and directing another documentary, “Street Scenes”), Martin Scorsese collaborated with Roger Corman on production to film “Boxcar Bertha” (1972), a crime thriller set in the 1930s starring Barbara Hershey and David Carradine.

Success.

“Mean Streets” (1973) was his first great film and the beginning of his fruitful collaboration with actor Robert de Niro, who later appeared in the same decade in titles such as “Taxi Driver” (1976) or “New York, New York” (1977). In this film, Liza Minnelli had also and appearance. Personal life.

He has been married five times. His first wife was Laraine Marie Brennan, and they had a son named Pierre. He married for the second time with writer Julia Cameron in 1976, but the marriage only lasted a year and also had a daughter, Domenica Cameron-Scorsese. He married for the third time with Isabella Rossellini in 1979, and divorced four years later, in 1983. Two years later, in 1985, he married the producer Barbara De Fina, divorced in 1991. He has been married since 1999 With Helen Morris and both have a daughter, Francesca.
