Kiefer Sutherland was born in London (England) on December 22nd, 1966. His parents are Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas, both Canadian actors. His maternal grandfather was a prominent Canadian politician, Tommy Douglas, prime minister of the Saskatchewan region, and founder of the social security system in that country. He has a twin sister, Rachel Sutherland, and three half-brothers, actors Rossif Sutherland, Angus Sutherland and Roeg Sutherland.
His family moved to Corona (California) by divorce from his parents in 1972. In 1975, he moved with his mother to Toronto, where he was educated at a Catholic school.
