Ben Affleck is an American actor who has a currently net worth of $75 million. He was born on August 15th, 1972 in Berkeley, California (United States). Benjamin Geza Affleck is the eldest son of Tim, a social worker and occasional actor, and Chris, a teacher. His brother Casey (born in 1975) is also dedicated to the interpretation.

Although born in the Californian town of Berkeley, Ben grew up in Cambridge, a population close to Boston, Massachusetts, where it coincides with another young aspiring actor, Matt Damon, with whom he began a close and lasting friendship.

Beginnings.

Since his childhood, he began to appear in television series and in commercials, debuting in the cinema when he was nine years old, in the film “The Dark End of the Street” (1981), a film directed by Jan Egleson.

In the mid-1980s he appeared in several telefilms and starred in the series “The Voyage of the Mimi” (1984). After finishing high school, a period in which maintained a romantic relation with his schoolmate Cheyenne Rothman, Affleck flew by the universities of Vermont, and the Occidental College of Eagle Rock in California, abandoning his academic instruction to try a career as an actor in Hollywood.

Stardom.

In the early 1990s, Ben Affleck began to break in with a bigger incision on the big screen, with Matt Damon, Brendan Fraser and Chris O’Donnell in Robert Mandel’s drama “School Ties” (1992), and in the film “Dazed and Confused”(1993), a film directed by Richard Linklater.

He was later directed by Kevin Smith in “Mallrats” (1995), comedy starring Shannen Doherty and Jeremy London which marked the beginning of the fruitful collaboration between Smith and the Californian actor.

Good Will Hunting.

The definitive disclosure of Ben Affleck as an interpreter occurred when he starred alongside Matt Damon, Minnie Driver and Robin Williams, by Gus Van Sant’s drama” Good Will Hunting”(1997), a film written by the couple Affleck / Damon, who collected a Golden Globe and an Oscar for the year’s best screenplay.

This w as the first and only screenplay written by Ben Affleck until his directorial debut on the big screen with “Gone Baby Gone” (2007).

End of the 90s.

In the last part of the 90s, the stellar position was consolidated with commercial titles like “Armageddon” (1998), action thriller directed by Michael Bay, or “Shakespeare in Love” (1999), a John Madden’s movie that featured Joseph Fiennes and Gwyneth Paltrow. With this last actress, Ben Affleck began a love affair in 1998, which then breaking in 2000.

Career as director.

In 2007 he directed his first feature film as director, the aforementioned “Gone Baby Gone” (2007), a film starring his brother Casey and based on a novel by Dennis Lehane. Three years later, he released his second feature, a crime thriller called “The Town” (2010) that adapted a novel by Chuck Hogan.
